15,800+ People have read about our fears over Ffos – Y -Fran via the Loose AntiOpencasting Network and a message to George Monbiot

A COAL MINING COMPANY Miller Argent (Nant Llesg) Ltd is trying to enclose 478 HECTARES of upland COMMON land with a 5km Fence and also STOP Public Access to a SCHEDULED ANCIENT Monument, near Merthyr Tydfil In Wales. In the 21st century!

United Valleys Action Group believe if we don’t stop this now, this monumental land grab will be used to the advantage of Developers EVERYWHERE in the UK.
Why? Because the appeal is with the UK PLANNING INSPECTORATE.

PLEASE OBJECT by printing out this form (attached) and sending it to the address supplied on it – you don’t have to live locally to do so: this is about land, liberty, our climate – ALL in the UK are implicated.

Some background… last summer a wonderful community in south Wales United Valleys Action Group saw off a 6-million-tonne opencast coal mine at Nant Llesg common, that would’ve destroyed the area utterly.
I was lucky enough to be part of the people on that day in August when the council rejected the mine.
But now the Opencast developer is appealing the decision.
In a callous sign of lack of consideration for the public and democracy, they lodged their papers on 23rd December, then took out a small advert in the local press on New Year’s eve!
And their first move has been to apply to FENCE the common land and to apply STOPPING RIGHTS OF WAY where they want to dig their opencast mine in a fertile area for grazing cattle. Not Sheep. Cattle and Horses. A very RARE habitat for welsh UPPER Moorland.

Well, screw that. People power stopped them before, let’s stop them again.

Please print out the document and fill in your objections.
Must arrive at the Planning Inspectorate, Cardiff before 28th January 2016.

It now seems that Argent holdings are gone the shares transferred to Gwent Investments Ltd the new parent company, who have never issued accounts, and are registered to a house in Pontypridd with 201 other small businesses…
It must be a bit of a tight squeeze there? Bet the queue for the photocopier is horrendous? Lol
