Amazing people, but the disabled people of Britain have been abandoned by The Church and targeted by Government and Police. We should be deeply ashamed as a society.

Brilliant imaginative action by DPAC yesterday in trying to set up an Independent Living Centre in the grounds of WESTMINSTRR ABBEY but the cowardly Dean colluded with hundreds of police in removing them. All hail DPAC.

I’m in the national newspaper again this week, bloody troublemakers Aye! Me and Eddy Blanche are in the paper again… bloody troublemakers Aye! Link After we (WalesOnline) revealed the council’s plans to introduce the parking charges, readers took to the Rhymney Valley Express Facebook page to make their feelings known.

Eddy Blanche said: “Remember to lodge your complaint with the council!!!! they have tried to sneak this in through the back door.” Ian Judas Pritchard said: “What is being lost today across so many communities will have profound, life changing, social implications now, tomorrow and for future generations… in danger of being swept away by wave after wave of vicious, ideological change.” Gemma Ceirwyn Hughes said: “Who will be the parking company and where will the money go? We already pay for the Darren valleys up keep in Fochriw so it will be a double charge for families. “If they have activities in the holidays, these are chargeable if you have to add parking fees on top of this then it works out expensive when families have little money as it is.”

****** You have to feel sorry for Caerphilly Borough Council, having to levy a charge to pay for all the alleged bent executives they’ve suspended on full pay pending the court case. All that money for sod all has to come from somewhere does’t it?

****** Update about the petition *****

Hello again,

I can confirm that the petition was delivered to the Council at a meeting on Tuesday the 22nd April 2014 with around 2,300 signatures. I have now received verbal confirmation that the petition has been accepted.

The latest information that I have obtained is that the petition has now been referred back to the Officers at the department that made the proposal to implement the car parking charges in the first instance. They will now revisit their evidence.

The Council was not prepared to give a timescale on when we could expect a response, as they do not have one, despite me pressing them on this point the Council would not concede.

I believe that it is important to keep the petition going until the 2nd May, this date being the last date for submission of our objections. Please take the time to write to the Council direct yourself with your objections.

Please keep talking to friends family about this petition, talk to people when you are out and about and tell them aboutwww.change.org.

If each one of us completed a petition in our street then this would increase the numbers significantly, or you could take a petition with you when you are out and about walking. I can send you a sheet to print, please e-mail melhwpersonal@icloud.com. You can then post it to the Council at Tredomen.

Feelings are very strong around the proposal for car parking fees and it is important that the Council stand up and listen to us.

Common sense must prevail! It is not a workable cost effective proposal for the Council, but if this goes through the impact upon us as a community is huge.

We must promote, physical and mental health and wellbeing and quality family time, and stop these charges!.

So lets keep going!

Thanks again for your continued support. There still lots of people that I talk to don’t know about this petition.

Just sent this image off for inclusion in an up coming series of art interventions called “Red Shoes” (curated by Shaun Featherstone) and it’s a response to the continual chipping away of our amenities.

“It’s my immediate response to the anger yesterday of Caerphilly Borough council imposing parking charges on the ex-coal mines that were turned into country parks in the north of the Rhymney Valley – this land is OUR heritage and enjoyed as a recreational facility by the families of the men who worked and in some cases died underground beneath our feet.
The parking charges have generated quite a bit of anger (check out Facebook) and I think the subject matter fits exactly into your project remit. i.e.
” focus on the continual chipping away of the cultural landscape that informs us and enriches us. Library closures, gallery closures, curtailing of community and recreational facilities – our country is suffering from a form of ‘cultural vandalism’ which affects us all. What is being lost today across so many communities will have profound, life changing, social implications now, tomorrow and for future generations… in danger of being swept away by wave after wave of vicious, ideological change.”

For the purposes of this exercise I’ve called the image “Parking Mad”.

cheers,
Ian Pritchard

*UPDATE

In a totally undemocratic hearing the CCBC has railroaded the decision to charge through. My disgust at them is palpable. Bastards.
